In the last of our Global Gathering success story series – we highlight breweries across Australia, the USA and Europe, that pulled through and launched some amazing beers for the Global Gathering campaign. Despite being in some of the hardest hit areas for lockdown and restrictions, our friends across the world remained dedicated to the cause and released some seriously tasty looking beers!
Read on to see our final highlights from the Global Gathering 2020.
Australia - Modus Operandi
Our good friends at Modus Operandi organised a huge tap takeover event at their Mona Vale taproom with kegs of other Gathering beers from across Australia. The event did manage to go ahead albeit with Covid restrictions in place, and they also were able to sell some Gathering variety mix packs online. They also released their own Helles Lager for the occasion. A massive thank you to the Modus team for being so behind the campaign!
Australia – Balter Brewing Company
Gold Coast legends Balter knocked it out the park with their Gathering release, “Porter 4 Water” – a 4.7% porter poured on nitro for a super velvety smooth texture (mmmm nitro). Their head brewer Scotty described the beer as “Luscious hazelnut and dark chocolate complimented by hints of oak and vanilla. Soft but oh so clean malt lays the canvas for a chocolatey, slightly smokey but totally friendly glass of Nitro poured comfort. With a sprinkle of oaky spice via experimental hop HBC 472 keeps things cuddly but sassy…” Wish we’d been down under for this one!
Romania – Hop Hooligans
One of the most exciting parts of the Gathering for us was seeing participants from all over the world, so for Hop Hooligans to join us in Romania was pretty damn cool! Their beer, “In DIPA waters” absolutely nailed the design brief along with a cool little clip posted on their Instagram. This dank New England DIPA was brewed with a tonne of Bru-1 Citra and Idaho 7 hops. Noroc!
Iceland – Malbygg
Another exciting European entry came from Iceland with our friends at Malbygg. Beautifully presented in 440ml can, this milk stout with coffee and maple syrup went down a storm, scoring over 4 on Untappd. Thank you Malbygg for sharing in our mission all the way in Iceland! Skál!
Ukraine – Mova Brewing
Also scoring over 4 on Untappd were our friends in Ukraine, Mova Brewing. Their "Stout V" really nailed the brief in terms of design and although we haven't tried it ourselves, it seems to have gone down pretty well! Despite Covid the team have managed to honour their donation commitment. Thanks so much guys!
USA – Alvarado Street Brewing
Heading to America now as we celebrate Alvarado Street Brewing, whose 7% Clean Water IPA was fantastic in every way, from positive reviews to beautiful can art. Clean, crisp, moderately bitter and aromatic, featuring a blend of Strata, Loral, and Waimea & Motueka hops from New Zealand, this beer was a real hit in California, with Alvarado Street remaining committed to the campaign and their donation. Cheers guys!
USA – Vitamin Sea Brewing
Last but not least, we were blown away by this beautiful design from Vitamin Sea Brewing, who were able to donate over $1,700 to the campaign from sales of their beer, Deeper Shade of Blue. Amazing stuff guys, thank you!
Although we've not been able to highlight every amazing beer that has been launched through the last few months, we want to say a massive heartfelt thank you to all breweries who took part in the Global Gathering, even if you were unable to launch a beer. Your support is humbling and we cannot thank each and every one of you enough.
We'll be back bigger and better for a hopefully Covid free Global Gathering 2021!
Love, Brewgooder x
